I have been arranging piano duets to perform with my wife Clare Yuan (as The Meeks Duo) since 2018, and now have over 100 arrangements for sale at our own shop and on musicnotes.com.
Some of the musical styles I have covered in my arrangements are Classical, Film, Jazz, Anime, Video Game, and a series of mash-ups of wildly contrasting genres.
Piano duos from all over the world have purchased and performed our duets in recordings and recitals (see playlist)

I have developed different ways of arranging for piano duet over the years. The first arrangements I did had an emphasis on virtuosity and contained many notes and difficult passages.
Next, I developed my mash-up style, where I combined completely unrelated pieces together (this was inspired by a university project assigned by Professor Émile Naoumoff), such as Happy Birthday blended with concertos by Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, and Grieg. They are a lot of fun to play and listen to!
During Covid, I started to arrange more popular music. My method is to capture the original song as closely as possible, so this often requires meticulous listening with headphones as I notate each instrument. I only add extra voices on repeats, in trying to remain authentic to the original.
I have also tackled several full orchestral scores, including the full Tchaikovsky Nutcracker and Bizet Carmen Suites, as well as Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Suite for 2-pianos, arranged for 1-piano 4-hands. This type of arranging involves constant consultation with the full orchestral scores, and involves many decisions about which of our four hands gets to play which instrumental part. It’s a time-consuming but very satisfying process!
