Described by the Winnipeg Free Press as a “consummate musician” who plays with “near-impossible fluidity” and “total physical involvement and passion”, Canadian pianist Dr. Scott Meek is a sought-after teacher, chamber musician, collaborative pianist based in Langley, British Columbia.



Dr. Meek has an easygoing personality combined with a demanding and detailed teaching style. His many years of experience as a concert performer allow him to pass on specialized practicing and stage projection techniques to his students. He provides guidance in both the physical and intellectual aspects of piano learning, with an emphasis on arm relaxation, finger strength and a positive attitude towards practice habits.

Dr. Meek strongly believes in the importance of performing, and encourages his students to perform frequently in his monthly student recitals at the Langley Community Music School. His students are regular award winners in local festivals and competitions, playing solos, Concertos, and duets.

Dr. Meek accepts students aged 10 and above, and at least RCM Level 5. He requires a minimum time of 60 minutes per lesson. Please fill out the contact form for inquiries!

Dr. Meek actively performs and records with his wife, pianist Clare Yuan, as part of The Meeks Duo. He has extensive experience with piano duo repertoire, and has published over 100 of his own arrangements for piano duet. His students have performed his duet arrangements in recitals and competitions, and he continues to make new arrangements at all difficulty levels, for both students and professionals.

Dr. Meek completed his Doctorate and Master’s degrees at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, studying under world-renowned pianist Menahem Pressler of the Beaux Arts Trio. He received his Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts from Oberlin College, studying with Alvin Chow. Dr. Meek was a top prizewinner in numerous international and national competitions, and he has performed as soloist with the Toronto, Edmonton, and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestras. He has adjudicated at the Sea-To-Sky International Piano Music Festival, the Richmond Music Festival, the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers’ Association provincial finals, and the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers’ Associations national finals.
